Our Chapter History
The Lake Oswego Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Lake Oswego resident, JaNae Stewart. JaNae was a member of the Portland Chapter along with her daughter, class of 2005, and several of their accomplished friends. The challenging logistics of commuting to and from their meetings, philanthropies, and other activities in Portland gave JaNae the idea of forming an NCL, Inc. chapter closer to home. Through the leadership and hard work of JaNae and others, Lake Oswego received its Provisional status in 2001 and its Official NCL, Inc. Charter in 2003. The Founding Board of the Lake Oswego Chapter was comprised of the visionary women who helped create our Chapter. Our successful growth model is the direct result of their initial leadership and mentorship.
